An Artist's Story: Alizwa Ntomboxolo

Updated: May 22

At Orgari, we believe in more than just creating beautiful art; we believe in sharing the inspiring stories behind our talented artists. All of our artists have used art to transform their lives in one way or another - each journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and the transformative power of creativity.

Today, we shine the spotlight on Alizwa Ntomboxolo, who started her painting journey almost 3 years ago.  Hailing from the tranquil landscapes of Mquanduli in South Africa's Eastern Cape, Alizwa comes from a tight-knit community that faces a lot of challenges. With an English literacy rate of less than 3% and high levels of unemployment, Mquanduli’s population faces a lack of opportunities, but despite all this Alizwa has found herself among the Orgari team in the valley of Franschhoek.

As a mom of 3, Alizwa wants to set an example for her children - proving that both ambition and hard work are necessary for a dream to come true. Her ambition is to develop her technical painting skills further and specifically become better at the bird motives we feature on our vases.

Alizwa is inspired by our indigenous plant life - her favourite motive being the Protea, South Africa’s national flower. Her colour choices are often as bold as her personality, something we are just as fond of, because if one thing is clear, it is that Alizwa's presence at Orgari is not just about artistic skill - it's about the positive and collaborative spirit she brings to our environment.
